Stockbridge dampers are devices used to reduce vibration and prevent damage to overhead power lines caused by wind-induced oscillations. They are named after their inventor, George H. Stockbridge, who patented the device in 1921.
A stock bridge damper consists of a weight suspended by a cable or rod attached to the power line.
